Natural Mosquito Repellent

Directions

  1. In a 3-4-ounce bottle, combine all ingredients. Shake well before using.

Natural bug repellent will need to be reapplied every few hours for maximum effectiveness. Store in a cool, dark place when not in use.

Warning: Eucalyptus essential oil is reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be a good natural mosquito repellent or substitution for DEET in repelling insects, but it is not recommended for use on children under 3 years. (Always apply essential oils on a small area to test for a sensitivity or allergic reaction before using for the first time.)

Health Benefits

There are mixed opinions about how toxic the chemical of DEET truly is, but here at Good Decisions, we definitely aren’t fans! Plus, the mass marketed inspect repellent sprays contain whopping doses of a whole lot of other chemicals, aside from DEET. It can be scary to realize that the things we put onto our skin seep right into our bloodstream. I mean, you wouldn’t want to eat all those chemicals right?

Making your own mosquito repellent is not only non-toxic but incredibly easy to mix together. It’s really useful to have these essential oils on hand anyways! Eucalyptus, in particular, is wonderful when added to a pot of hot water to breathe in the steam for help with a cold or stuffy nose.

So give this natural repellent a shot and let us know if it worked for you!
